DIY Sailor Moon Party

How to Plan your own DIY Sailor Moon Party

Here is how I made my own DIY Sailor Moon Party. A lot of work went into this DIY Sailor Moon Party for all my little Moonies. This party set up was a Little something special for one of my best friends! I chose an Ice Cream theme for my DIY Sailor Moon Party to match the popular Sailor Moon Ice Cream shops.

This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. If you have questions or want me to go into more detail on specifics, let me know in the comments and I would be happy to make a blog all about it. There will be another post showing where I got everything for the party so you can find it too.

Decorations

Backdrop

Sailor Moon is one of my favorite Cartoons from when I was a little girl. My favorite scenes were always the magical girl transformations! So I channeled those scenes in my background set up. To start I used the space tapestry from my doctor who party to set the scene for my DIY Sailor Moon Party. I draped (Dollar Tree) Light Pink Streamers on the sides to represent the Sailor Moons ribbons and Layered on my gold Star Banner, also from my Doctor Who Party (Wish). I finished off everything with a sweet little Sailor Moon Happy Birthday Banner.  It was simple but effective in giving off the overall ascetic I was looking for.

Party Table

Working from the Bottom up my DIY Sailor Moon Party table scape was small but effective and SO EASY! anyone could DIY this is a matter of Minutes. I started with a round white tablecloth (Dollar Tree). Using a rectangle royal blue table-cloth (dollar tree) I cut it in half (Hamburger style), then draped each side on either side of the table. Once they were equal on both sides I brought them together and lightly tied them. I made a simple bow out of red wrapping paper (Dollar Tree) and taped the bow to the knot. If you would like a tutorial on the wrapping paper bow, please to not hesitate to message me :). Under the white table-cloth I added royal blue tulle to make a skirt. I’m not sure how it looks to be honest, but if you had more tulle and made a more volumes on tulle I imagine it would look pretty awesome. I topped the table off with a sequins gold table runner that I borrowed from my Doctor Who Party.

Table Decorations

My table decor is a fun collection of Sailor Moon items that I either got for my daughter or had on hand. Everything was printable or had a purpose. From the right, lets start with my Luna P Piñata. This piñata is a DIY project that will hopefully be added to this blog very soon (link here), it was very easy and cost-effective, considering it only cost me $1 in extra supplies. Sitting nicely in front of Luna P are my homemade Macarons <3 these are my pride and joy! Thank you Todd for helping me make them. To the left are my matching Luna & Artemis stuffed cat toys (Wish) I got them for Guine so she can be a huge nerd just like me.

Moving on to the show stopper. The confetti pink cupcakes (Publix). The cupcakes turned out so bright and colorful that they brought the set up together! I must say that they really made my Sailor Moon Cupcake liners and Cupcake topper really stand out and steal the show. Sitting high above the rest of the Sailor scouts are my Tuxedo Mask Strawberry Roses (super easy party dish, heathy too). The intended main event of my Sailor Moon Party are the Sailor Moon Ice Cream cones. These printable Cone Liners turned out so cute and perfect! The cones I bought at the store were too small for the liners, but it worked out that the liners made the cones look bigger. Everything works out in the end. Each Ice cream liner and Cupcake liner comes with optional Sailor Scout bow stickers. I added mine and it just pushed them over the top in cuteness. To hold the silverware I brought out my white rabbit from my Alice in wonderland party. Perfect for Usagi (Sailor Moons real name) meaning Rabbit.

My Centerpiece

Inspired by a DIY Sailor Moon Party baby shower featured on my Instagram, I decided to mimic one of their gorgeous simple centerpieces. All purchased from the Dollar Tree, this was such an easy center piece to make. Using a skinny vase and hot pink vase gels, I was able to create the base. The perfect flowers turned out to be yellow and pink, and I was able to find these adorable light pink glitter berries that I think added the perfect amount of sparkle. The top held a gold glitter crescent. I had the gold glitter paper on hand, but here is the Crescent template I used. I just printed the template, cut it out, and applied the glitter. SO EASY.

For older sailor scouts in training I recommend Tea Cup Castle on Etsy. I found the cutest Sailor Moon Tiara ring from there are was able to get Sailor Moon jewelry for my friend who is a huge fan of Sailor Moon for her birthday <3. My Sailor Moon Tiara ring was customized with the color stone I wanted. Purple for Guines’ birthday.

 Fashion

Fashion is always my favorite Subject. Nerd fandoms make it so much fun to dress up. What makes it better is when there is a Fandom event where you can go to show off your Nerd Fashion. Lucky for me Regal and Fathom events was doing a summer showing of the Sailor Moon Movies! Lucky me! I put on my Sailor Moon Shirt (Forever 21) and my red tulle skirt (Torrid), found my Sailor Venus Handmade Bow (me) and set off! I felt so magical!

Guinevere looked adorable in her Sailor Moon bodysuit, which is available in my shop for a limited time, and Sailor Moon kicks from Sasi Shoes! Use code Mynerd15 for a sweet sweet discount on your own pair of Nerdy Shoes! Guine loves LOVES! her Sailor Moon shoes. I have to hide them to keep her from carrying them around the house with her. I can’t wait for our next pair!

Thank you so much for joining me for my Sailor Moon Birthday Party. Let me know in the comments if you are planning a Sailor Moon Party. Did my ideas help you out? I sure hope so! Photos were taken by Cute Panda Co at CutePandaco.com  Please follow her on social media and love her as much as I do.
