Here is how our DIY Steven Universe Birthday Party for my 3 year old daughter was made. I am so proud that my daughter is as in love with Steven Universe as I am, so you can imagine how excited I was when she requested a Steven Party!! I decided to focus on the phrase “She’s a Gem” because it worked so well on so many levels.

To make everything easier we decided to host at a indoor playground local to our area! If you are in the central Florida area check out Princess and Princes. They handled everything from setting up, to cutting the cake and take down. I got to enjoy my daughters birthday and watch her have the time of her life with her friends.

This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. If you have questions or want me to go into more detail on specifics, let me know in the comments and I would be happy to make a blog all about it.

Decorations

Backdrop

Steven Universe is one of my favorite Cartoons, so I was so happy to share it with my children. Lately I have been going through a “is it useful” phase so most of the decorations I found or made serve different purposes. My Steven Universe party backdrop is actually a large throw blanket that Guine will get to keep once the party is over. This is a great fun way to keep a souvenir from the party. (Bonus, once she’s done with the Steven Universe Blanket I can keep it :D) If your interested in a custom blanket background please email me at mynerdnursery@gmail.com. This Steven Universe blanket is available upon request. I used my Steven Universe party Banner to make it a birthday party, and posted colored balloons and curtains on each side to show off the theme colors.

Table Decorations

The table decor is a fun collection of Steven Universe items that I either got for my daughter or had on hand. I found this adorable Lion piggy bank and mini pop toys to decorate the tables. My favorite touch are these super cute plushes of Steven, Pearl and Amethyst I got for Guine so she can be a huge nerd just like me. Princess and Princes host parties all the time (you can book your own on their website) and they have several table fillers on hand. Including the adorable star and number lights and topiaries. They printed out comic posters to show more Steven and I loved the way it turned out!

Moving on to the show stopper. My Steven Universe cake from Love Lorena Cake Designs. The cake turned out so bright and colorful that brought the set up together! The cake itself had one tier of strawberry and one tier of chocolate. I love the details Lorena added too. I mean look at how cute this lion is.

Favors:

For favors I decided to create paper gem boxes to look like the diamonds. I present the DIAMONDS! Each Steven Universe gem favor box held a “Freeze” Ring Pop, a handmade crayon and Steven Universe Stickers. I also gave out light up gem rings and pink bubbles. Its safe to say kids went home happy.

For Steven Universe Baby Showers I recommend my Steven Universe Milestone Stickers to be the perfect gift that keeps on giving. If your planning on taking monthly photos of your baby Steven I recommend these Fandom Stickers to help you show the progress your Gem is making.

 Fashion

Fashion is always my favorite Subject. Nerd fandoms make it so much fun to dress up. What makes it better is when there is a Fandom event where you can go to show off your Nerd Fashion.

Guinevere looked adorable in her Pearl toddler tee and rose petal skirt which is available in my shop. I even found a little star beret to add to her hair. Its so nice to dress up as a family for a party. My Steven Cookie Cat tee is from Hot Topic, but it happens to be discontinued so its only mine <3 I chose to wear my one of kind handmade (by me) brooches to really show my love for the show. Aaron (aka Daddy) chose to be Mr. Universe for the party and we found his tee as a bundle by Frayel on Etsy. So we got a regular Steven tee for Guine to wear too. My favorite touch is my latest addition, Archi in his Steven PANTS! I found this shop from Instagram and I am in love! You can get your own Steven Universe Bummies from OneUPHandmade on Etsy. It paired so nicely with a solid grey onesie.
