How to Plan your own DIY Final Fantasy Party

This Final Fantasy party was inspired to be a Rainbow themed baby shower by all the rainbow babies in my life right now. This party is mostly dedicated to my friends and their sweet babies. I hope it inspires your parties. If you imagine something different for your party I would love to see it!

Lets get started with the background. I used a basic white plastic table cloth as the base (Dollar Tree) and draped my rainbow plastic table clothes across from top to bottom. I pinned the top and sides in place. The tape banner was donated my a friend who just celebrated her rainbow babies first birthday. The top is meant to resemble clouds with white tissue paper pom-poms (Dollar Tree) and a printed Moogle. The Welcome Baby banner is available now in my shop and comes in Baby Shower and Happy Birthday along with the Alphabet Banner. I finished off the backdrop with some much needed texture by adding paper doilies around the banner.

Party Table

Welcome to my super simple Final Fantasy table. The table cloth is a combination of a white plastic table cloth (Dollar Tree) and a vintage lace curtain I already owned. I brought in my gold lace placemats to add some color into the design. On the far left I found the cutest little Cactus decoration from the Dollar Tree! I cut out some black spots and TADA! Little Cactuar table decoration! I literally told a stranger in the store how excited I was! My cute Final Fantasy cupcakes are the perfect addition to this party with the Final Fantasy cupcake liners and Toppers. I taped a Chocobo character cutout to the top of my cupcake stand to make a super topper! and surrounded the cupcakes with sweets, to make a dessert bar. The Dessert bar featured simple snacks like cream puffs, cream cheese bars and Macaroons.

The right side of my table is my dream baby shower activity. A Bath bomb Bar! I filled 4 jars with various bath salts and rocks. I’ve also collected a variety of bathbombs for this party including the adorable cactus bathbombs! My Guests will fill potion bottles with their desired bath salts for Potion baths. I used Halloween potion bottles from Target to my potion bottles, but in hindsight please get bottles with larger necks for easy transfer.

Food

Final Fantasy Party Cupcakes! These delicious cupcakes are from Publix. Vanilla cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (my Favorite) and Pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting. YUM!

Backdrop

Channeling my inner Bioshock was so much fun with this backdrop. This three color backdrop looks great and is so easy to make on a budget. I covered the top of the backdrop with my favorite pin wheels. You can find the Neon Plasmids Alphabet Banner in my shop and the Little Sister Pipe printable to tie everything together.

Party Table

Welcome to my super simple Bioshock table. I love this terra cotta curtain and would recommend curtain tablecloths for any party! I need to get more. lol. The green fishnet was a last minute add on that I think adds just enough texture to break up the table.

Table Decorations

Bioshock table decorations can be super practical and easy to find around your home. I used a fake fern, this amazing lanturn I found at goodwill and aluminum cans! so simple.

My Centerpiece

My Favorite part of this party are my Bioshock Masquerade masks. There are 6 all together! I decided to only print my 3 favorites for my kids and I.

Here is how I made my own DIY Dragonball Z Party. This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. Creating this look was pretty fun and super easy for you to replicate. I first hung my favorite galaxy tapestry and filled the top with orange and blue pinwheels. There didnt seem to be enough orange so we added orange tissue poms and star banners to help add more texture to the set up. My show stopper Dragon is a printable you can make at home! Top everything off with my Dragonball Z Alphabet Banner.

I decided to create a Dragonball Z Baby shower for my set up. I loved the idea of “Your wish is granted” from the dragon.

“The Legend, as I was told, goes something like this. In the beginning there was only one Dragon Ball. It was huge. I mean REALLY huge, it had to be. It held all of the mystical energies of the universe. An ancient tribe discovered it, and was inspired by its magnificent power. They built a shrine around it, and protected the orb by placing it in the mouth of a giant Dragon statue, said to be its eternal guardian. You should have seen the detail on this thing, it was INCREDIBLE, scales made of Ruby, teeth of pearl—speaking of pearl, they say there was this one native girl (“GET ON WITH IT!”)—yes, well, the tribe enjoyed years of prosperity until one day, evil paid a visit to the village in the form of a band of thieves. These agents of Darkness stormed the temple in an attempt to steal the Dragon Ball for their own selfish gain. They were shocked to discover the true power of the Ball. To ensure such an attack never happened again, the Dragon Ball was divided into seven smaller orbs, and scattered across the globe. Separately, the Dragon Balls were useless, but when all seven were united, then a single voice could summon the Eternal Dragon for one wish, and one wish only. Some wishes were pure, but others were tainted by blind ambition. This led to pain and suffering as an unjust few wished for power and dominion over mankind. But as the story goes there will one day come a hero who will use the Dragon Balls for goodness, and bring peace and unity to the world once more.”

Party Table

My Husband grew up on Dragonball Z so I was so pleased to have his input of this Dragonball Z Baby Shower table. I used a rusted orange curtain to use as a table cloth so the colors wouldn’t compete with the other oranges on the table. We broke up the table with a royal blue plastic (Dollar Tree) table cloth and my gold table runner. Instead of flowers I decided to include the tissue paper poms in the back of the table too. Spread all over the display are all 7 Dragonballs! Something fun to include in a Dragonball party is a hunt to find all the dragonballs.

Table Decorations

The Left side of the table I displayed Potstickers/ Dumplings and Goten favorite treat, Strawberry Daifuku. Behind Bulma I put edamame pods in a cute dish to make the magic beans from the Dragonball Z cartoons.

The right side of the table has more desserts! Red Bean Mochis are one of my favorite treats so I included them quite a bit.

I LOVE working with other small Businesses! Check out this amazing cake from Jaimes Bakery (Winter Garden, Orlando FL Area). He decorated this adorable cake to match my Dragonball Z Baby Shower theme! It matched perfectly with the cute Dragonball Z cupcake Toppers and Dragonball Z Cupcake liners. So be sure to checkout his facebook page and let him work is cake magic on you!

7. Piccolo – water (particularly the thawed ice water in the north area)
8. Kuririn – chinese buffet
9. Yamcha – hard-baked soba
10. Roshi – home-delivered pizza
11. Tenshinhan – jiaozi/gyouza, shumai (the first being what Chaozu was named after, the second being what Shu and Mai were named after)
12. Chaozu – tenshindon (another name for tenshinhan, what Tenshinhan was named after)
13. Yajirobe – roast wild hog
14. Bulma – strawberries
15. Chi Chi – Chinese chimaki
16. Mr. Satan – high-class steak
17. Videl – okonomi-yaki, Caesar salad

Welcome to my Hocus Pocus Party! This theme is so much fun for a spooky Birthday, Baby Shower or Halloween Party. Channel your inner Sanderson Sister and learn how you can make your own DIY Hocus Pocus Party for your event.

Backdrop

My Hocus Pocus party backdrop is a basic purple tablecloth (Dollar Tree). I used chalk to make a outline for my potion smoke effect. You can find the tissue pom poms at Dollar Tree, I cut them in half to make double the amount. to highlight texture and “bubbles” I add balloons and a star banner (wish). Top everything with my I smell a child Banner.

Party Table

I decided to keep my table front simple. I used a plastic black tablecloth (Dollar Tree) and a spider web fabric table cloth in a triangle. Adding a shine with a copper circle banner (Dollar Tree) worked so nicely. The top of the party table filled up quickly, but if you look closely you can see my silver place mats.

Table Decorations

Table decorations are one of my passions. From left to right, add tombstones!! the Sanderson sisters spent so much time in cemeteries they work so perfectly. Help elevate your party food or décor try adding books that fit the theme. This black cool looking one is actually Hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. Nestled in between the Hocus Pocus cupcakes and Black Flame Candle you can see a character cutout of Sarah Sanderson. My Black Flame candle is the easiest Hocus Pocus decoration and super affordable! The candle is black (Dollar Tree) and I created a printable you can Modge-podge the paper right to your candle. I found it needed to be higher on the table so I flipped a wine glass and hid the base with flowers. Sitting in front are the official Hocus Pocus cookies (Target).

You need pumpkins on your Hocus Pocus party table so I added some little ones I picked up from a local pumpkin patch. Another tombstone evened out the table. You’ll also need a BOOOooooOOOoook to complete your table. You can find your own spellbook in my shop, Its available in Sketchbook and notebook. The right side of the table held more sweets! Including witch popcorn mix (Target) topped with witch hats (Dollar Tree), and a huge chocolate cauldron (Harry Potter World). My table also included little Thank you Cauldrons for kids to take home.

I had a special guest during this party! No Ordinary Balloon Man came and made me a Binx Balloon for the table! His name is Bruce and he’s available in Orlando, FL and the surrounding areas! Just look at how cute Binx is! I used old books so show him off behind everything else. He also made a Witch broom for my little toddler witch!

Now to what every DIY Hocus Pocus Party needs, A BLACK CAULDRON! I found this cute one from Target, It came with this perfect green slime potion punch!

I am in love with this look! Everything started with a brown plastic table cloth (Party City), added a wood look to make the door effect. Then I taped the door knockers to finish off the effect. The theme of my baby shower was the crystal ball scene, I used various gold tone balloons and paper chandeliers (Dollar Tree, painted white) to create a elegant feel. I found all my pearls and strung them up just like the movie! Michaels had the perfect “Bubbles” (Plastic iridescent ornaments) to tie everything together.

Party Table

My Party table was based on Sarah’s Crystal Ball gown. I cinched the white table cloth in the center and draped the grey table cloth over. (Both from Party City). Adding the gold table runner was a after thought that I though would be just the right touch, and was right. Instead of the empty grey I layered a lace curtain topped with gold vinyl place mats. (Also party city, I couldn’t resist).

For my party table I wanted sweet treats like a elegant tea party. I created a crystal clear cupcake stand. Awesome DIY project. I used old books as plates to add color to my table and to reference the movie. Don’t eat the peach Sarah!!! I had to include peaches in my party set up and the branches were PERFECT (Michaels). All over the table you’ll find gold statues of each of the main characters. These are giant playing pieces for the Labyrinth game. Super cool find!

Backdrop

For my backdrop I wanted to channel the jungle of Jurassic Park. I used my textured green throw blanket as the topper, and draped it to the sides. I created a Jurassic Park Logo custom name sign to display on top. Then, Behind everything I hung a green (Dollar Store) table cloth with light green streamers to make stripes. I was pretty pleased with how everything turned out. My daughter found these fake flowers when we were out shopping and brought them home, I decided to add them to the backdrop to add to the baby shower look. I finished everything off with my new “Life finds a way” banner.

Party Table

My party table was the jeep from Jurassic Park! I was inspired by Pinterest and wanted to pull it off so you could too! I started with a black (Dollar tree) Table cloth over the whole table. I then draped a gold (Dollar Tree) table cloth over the middle, Just enough for the Jeep print out. I free-handed JP09 on the “hood” of the Jeep. To complete the look I tried to create the windows of the jeep but they turned out too tall. (LOL) Maybe you’ll have better luck.

Here is how I made my own DIY Indiana Jones Party. I would like to tell you about my Guest Artist Jesse Bechtold. He’s a Disney Sketch Artist who is working on his very own comic! It drops September 1st on Webcomic! Show him some support if you like strong female leads.

Indiana Jones is Jesses long time favorite movie. His favorite scene is Indiana Jones and the snakes, So I channeled that scene in my set up. To start I used a textures green throw blanket and a rust colored curtain to make a jungle adventurer vibe. I topped this simple backdrop with my Indiana Jones Alphabet Banner.

Party Table

Working from the Bottom up my DIY Indiana Jones Party table scape was small but effective and SO EASY! anyone could DIY this is a matter of Minutes. I started with a plastic black table cloth (Dollar Tree), a gold Plastic table cloth (Dollar Tree), My favorite leaf runner (Michaels) ,and a green fish net (Wish). To create the look of elevation I used a stepstool under the table clothes.

My table décor is a fun collection of Indiana Jones inspired things that I had on hand. Everything was printable or had a purpose. From the right, I used my treasure chest to house my cupcake tower which I think worked out so well! My Indiana Jones cupcake Liners are either a treasure Map or a Snake bottom. I am particularly proud of putting snakes on the bottom of the tiers cupcake stand. “Snakes, why’d it have to be snakes.”

The monkey (Puppet) is a childhood toy of my husbands and felt right at home in this set up. Speaking of living for this Party set up was my “Art School” skull. I filled his eye with ruby gems and a snake (Dollar Tree). Up the ridge I displayed some old books to add some color and Jesse had a Indiana Jones HAT! of course we needed that. My finishing touch was a few candles to set the mood.

Here is how I made my own DIY Firefly Party. A lot of work went into this DIY Firefly Party for all my Firefly fans (Big and small). This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. Firefly is one of the most fun themes I have gotten to do! I had the pleasure of re-watching all 14 of the Firefly episodes to help me channel my inner Serenity. So I channeled those scenes in my background set up. To start I used the space tapestry from my doctor who party to set the scene for my DIY Firefly Party. I draped a copper curtain over half the space background to give the look of steampunk space. Then layered on my gold Star Banners, also from my Doctor Who Party (Wish) to bring in more space and whimsy. I finished off everything with a shiny Firefly Baby Shower Banner and large Serenity Cutout (Available upon request). It was simple but effective in giving off the overall ascetic I was looking for.

Party Table

Working from the Bottom up my DIY Firefly Party table scape was small but effective and SO EASY! anyone could DIY this is a matter of Minutes. I used a copper window curtain to make a table cloth. In front of my display I placed my Chinese parasol to add a bit more whimsy. I topped the table off with a sequins gold table runner that I borrowed from my Doctor Who Party.

Table Decorations

My table decor is a fun collection of Firefly items that I either borrowed or had on hand. Everything was printable or had a purpose. From the right, lets start with my Serenity Cut out. I made it as large as I could by printing from a office supply store on 11 x 17 cardstock. Serenity cut out was very easy and cost-effective, considering it only cost me around $1 in extra supplies. From Left to right, I placed red flowers that I had on hand next to my metal food tray, containing strawberries and chicken eggrolls. YUM! Next I placed my DIY Jayne printable yarn party hats and printable foodstuffs bar.

Moving on to the show stoppers. The Firefly cupcakes (Publix). The cupcakes turned out so fun and they brought the set up together! I must say that they really made my firefly Cupcake Liners and Cupcake topper really stand out.

My Centerpiece; THE CAKE!

The cake from Love Lorena Designs, is a masterpiece! The adorable outfit design of Malcom Reynolds burgundy and browncoat costume really tied the table together.

Firefly Fashion

Fashion is always my favorite Subject. Nerd fandoms make it so much fun to dress up. What makes it better is when there is a Fandom event where you can go to show off your Nerd Fashion.

Here is how I made my own DIY Harry Potter Party. A lot of work went into this DIY Harry Potter Party for all my little wizard in training. This party set up was a future Baby Shower in the making! My Friend since Disney is having a Baby! I have the honor of decorating for her Harry Potter theme Baby shower.  I chose a Hogwarts theme for my DIY Harry Potter Party to play of the idea of the primary colors and the Kiddy Crests.

This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. If you have questions or want me to go into more detail on specifics, let me know in the comments and I would be happy to make a blog all about it. There will be another post showing where I got everything for the party so you can find it too.

Decorations

Backdrop

For this party set up I decided to go with color blocks of Blue, Yellow, Green and Red, to represent the Hogwarts houses. I bought (Dollar Tree) table clothes in the correct colors and cut them to size. I hung them from my usual curtain rod. The Harry Potter Banner is available in my shop. The Kiddy Crests are available in my shop at well. I happened to have extra large construction paper, which i cut to make the banners. I glued the crests to the Banners. Worked and looked great!

Tablescape

This DIY Harry Potter Hogwarts Party table was also the easiest I have had yet. Simple yet effective. The Table was topped with (in this order) a cheap yellow table cloth, Harry Potter Banners from Target, and Ripped pages of a old destroyed book. I used a small desk to display everything on, and I liked this for a small amount of food I had to display.

For the main decor I borrowed some Harry Potter theme items to really pump up the nerdiness of the display. From Bottom to top: The Mirror is borrowed from a friend of mine and the Books we had on hand of course! The Nursery frames of the Houses are from my shop (Link) and the treasure chest (wizard Chest) is from a previous party. I filled the Chest with wands and a giant snitch fold out (Borrowed from a friend). The Chest Also held my custom made Invitations. Moving up the Dougie Banner is from the Ravenclaw Banner set, which matches the top banner. To display the food I used wood cut pieces (which i DIY into a cupcake stand from my Where the Wild things are Baby Shower) and several glass display wear I have on hand. Behind the Sorting hat cupcakes I put Potion Bottles ( You can download the potion labels here) in different colors to make them pop.

My Centerpiece

My main Center Piece is the Hogwarts house cups. Each tall hurricane vase is filled to various hights to show which house is winning. In this set up its a tie between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. I filled the vases with un-popped popcorn cernals (that I had dyed with food coloring) and found the perfect ribbon at the Dollar Tree. Carefully I tied a cute little bow around each one and topped them with the small version of my Hogwarts Crest (which can be found here in my shop). The Dollar tree has a large assortment of different flowers so I was able to find different color flowers, I think each one describes a different part of the Hogwarts house its representing.

To the far right are some other perfect props I borrowed including a small stuffed owl, a crystal Ball (That Lights up) and a Ravenclaw Tiara. I also included a dragon egg?, Mostly because I really liked it and I feel it really balanced the Wizard chest on the floor.

Food

DIY Harry Potter Party Menu:

• Sorting hat Cupcakes- Jumbo Chocolate Cupcakes with M&Ms in the center, Topped with Fudge Frosting.
• Honey dukes Candy- Chocolate Frogs, and Every Flavor Jelly Beans.
• Butter Beer pudding- Butterscotch pudding, with caramel sauce and Whipped cream
• Lily’s Lemon Bars- Delicious Lemon Bars topped with Powdered sugar.

All the artwork was created by me to show off for this Party Set up and everything is printable and available in my shop or as a bundle on my Etsy.

DIY Favors & Gifts:

For Favors I decided on Potions. I found these adorable colored Hand Sanitizer bottles. 1$ for a pack of three. I created custom potion labels (which you can download here). Perfect for a baby shower. Another possible favor would be the Honeydukes candy. Either a Chocolate Frog or the Every flavor jelly beans would be so much fun to get. I found my free, so I’ll give mine for free. You can download the Jellybean box Here and the chocolate frog box Here. I hope you enjoy!

For Gifts I wanted to share my Nursery prints with the new mommy. They make the perfect gift for a new baby wall. I am also planning on giving my new wizard mom a set of Harry potter milestone stickers. So she can celebrate Harry Potter every month with her new baby.

Fashion

This baby Shower is going to be so much fun for us fashion wise. I have a brand new shirt from Nerd Under the stairs! It says Swish and Flick on it with a feather! How cute is that! I’m pairing it with my black gold dust skirt and some simple black flats. I really wanted the shirt to pop.

Guine is wearing a dress inspired by Hermione Grangers winter dance dress. I found it at my local Once upon a Child. She looks so cute!

Here is how I made my own DIY Legend of Zelda Party. A lot of work went into this Legend of Zelda party for all my little Legend of Zelda fans. I found this wonderful couple (now engaged) who had just announced that they are having a little girl by the cutest means. They had made an adorable purple stuffed rupee and revealed the gender to everyone by opening a little chest. My heart stopped.  This post will be an overall summary of what went into designing and making the party come to life. Decorations

Backdrop

All of the Decorations were made by me doing DIY projects or online video tutorials. You can find all of my printable products in my store and DIY Tutorials on my YouTube… eventually. Lets start with the backdrop. I wanted something really themed after Legend of Zelda and decided to make a Great Deku Tree. I thought it could do double duty and hang in a nursery. I used brown construction paper for the trunk and black construction paper for the face. The entire thing was attached to a Dollar Tree round light blue tablecloth. I attached roughly 6 packs of light green pom-poms (cut in half) to the table-cloth by Staples. I tried taping first but that failed horribly.

Tablescape

Table decorations I made myself. The Triforce shelf was made by me. Super Proud! I love things that have multiple purposes. Here you see the Triforce as a cupcake stand but now its a shelf for my husbands amibos. Heres the video of me making it (coming soon)

In my party stash I happened to have a bunch of wood cuts to display food on, (borrowed and had). I love the wood texture for the Legend of Zelda Party and paired them with moss I bought at Hobby Lobby and Leaves and Acorns from my Where the wild things are baby shower. I got some yellow and white flowers to help stabilize the Triforce. I made the shelf pretty deep but I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t fall over during the shoot.

Another fun party of the display was my Navi Pinata paired with my little lighted fairies that I DIY. You can follow these directions to make them yourself.

Things you need:
Small Jars with corks (I got mine at the dollar tree, but I know hobby lobby has them)
Candle holders (Dollar Tree)
Pink or blue air dry clay
Glitter Sticker paper (hobby lobby) its in the scrap book aisle. or clear packing tape
Fairy Lights (amazon or department stores during spring)
hot glue
wire or paper clip

1. Hot glue jar to candle stick(s)
2. roll air dry clay into small fairy balls
3. fold over your tape/ glitter paper to create a clear square, cut butterfly pattern from tape to create wings
4. Once the clay is dry hot glue wings to ball
5. unfold paper clip and insert one end into the clay ball and hot glue the other side to the underside of the cork to the top of the jar.
6. once everything is dry, insert fairy lights and place cork.
7. optional (hot glue cork to jar)

A cute little addition to my little Legend of Zelda baby shower were the Koraks masks. I didn’t want to have little hide in seek printables (because that would be too simple. Instead I printed out masks and got Guines Stuffed animals involved in the fun. I’ve hidden them all over the display. (6 total).

I wanted a center vocal point for the table so I created this Gold foil triforce table-cloth. Heres the video to create your own (coming soon). I also recommend layering your table cloths. If your like me you get the cheap dollar tree ones and I think they look much less cheap when you layer them. Here is the light green rectangle table-cloth from Target and a dark green from Dollar Tree.

Food

I made a simple dinner menu for my husband and I since this was a stage table (aka an elaborate dinner) I like to typically stick to six menu items to display all my food tents. So here we go.

Artwork & Invites:

All of the art was created by My Nerd Nursery and is for sale on Etsy in a bundle or individual sale in the shop. This staging was for a mock baby shower for Baby Evangeline. I like to have a themed baby book, but since there is no real children’s book for legend of Zelda I made a sign poster with the Great Deku Tree, This is a custom product. I also made the entry sign as a custom product with some embellishments.

Favors & Prizes:

Favors consisted of these adorable burlap pouches with Rupee Gift Tags. Inside each bag I put homemade Rupee Candies as a thank you for all my Mock Guests.

Games

Since this was a Baby shower mockup i wanted low-key entertainment. I made the Great Deku Tree Sign in poster for cute messages and well wishes. I also make printable koraks masks to put on stuffed animals for your little ones to play a little search and find game. Sweet and Simple. Another fun game for all the kids you invite to your DIY Legend of Zelda party would enjoy this adorable DIY Navi Piñata, I used it as a table decoration until we got to smash her. Sorry Navi.

Fashion

Fashion is almost my favorite Party topic! I found this Etsy seller who makes adorable Nerdy themed Aprons!!! We’ve started a collaboration project featuring her aprons every month! (p.s. if your interested in collaborating with me please email me @ mynerdnursery@gmail.com. Anyways here is a link to her Etsy! I got the wear my super cute apron all during my cooking and table segments. it was very comfortable and was perfect for my Legend of Zelda party.

Guine got to dress up too, I wanted her to be something simple and comfortable so I picked Princess Navi! I found the perfect blue dress to represent the fairy Navi at a local Once Upon a Child. and I actually had a matching headband from my baby shower. I made some little DIY Fairy wings and IT WAS PERFECT! Here is the DIY Fairy wings video to make your own
